Aims This thematic volume aims at exploring the relationship between the arts and learning in a number of educational contexts and across cultures. The focused topic looks at how arts-based interventions are conceived, designed, carried on and assessed in different educational and cultural contexts. We encourage a large variety of approaches and methods. We aim at collecting contributions from all over the world, in cross-cultural, multicultural, pluralist perspectives. Scope This volume encourages contributions worldwide in (but not limited to) the following topics:
This volume will be published as a special issue of the book series ‘innovation and change in education - cross–cultural perspectives' by River publisher. From 2010 onwards, all RIVER publishers’ books have been accepted for indexing in Web of Science Book Citation Index (BkCI), including the expected sub-series. http://www.riverpublishers.com

Editors bio: Tatiana Chemi, PhD, is Associate Professor at Aalborg University, Chair of Educational Innovation, where she works in the field of artistic learning and creative processes, a field that she specifically focused on during postdoc research at the Danish School of Education. She has been involved in research projects examining artistic creativity, arts-integrated educational designs in schools and the role of emotions in learning. She is the author of many published articles and reports and is also the author of Artbased Approaches. A Practical Handbook to Creativity at Work (2006), FokusForlag; In the Beginning Was the Pun: Comedy and Humour in Samuel Beckett’s Theatre (2013), Aalborg University Press; The Art of Arts Integration (2014), Aalborg University Press and with Jensen, J. B. &Hersted, L. (2015), Behind the Scenes of Artistic Creativity, Frankfurt, Peter Lang. In 2013, Aalborg University Press named her Author of the Year. Her research and publishing projects are currently focused on theatre laboratories pedagogies and co-creative learning environments in the arts.
Xiangyun Du (杜翔云), Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Learning and Philosophy and director of the Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning at Aalborg University. She is also an adjunct professor at Beijing Normal University and at China Medical University. Her main research interests include innovative teaching and learning in education, particularly, problem-based and project-based learning methods in fields ranging from engineering, medicine and health, and foreign language education, to diverse social, cultural and educational contexts. She has also engaged with educational institutions in over 10 countries in substantial work on pedagogy development in teaching and learning. Professor Du has over 130 relevant international publications including monographs, international journal papers, edited books and book chapters, as well as conference contributions. She has also been actively involved in a number of international academic programs, networks, and editorial works for journals. Currently she is also (co)editing book series for PalGrave and RIVER publishers.
